Refund Policy

Last updated 31 July 2026.

Most refund policies exist to explain why you cannot have your money back. Ours mostly explains when you were never charged in the first place.

A failed render never charges you

You are charged when a provider delivers a render — not when you submit one. If a generation fails, times out, is refused by the provider’s content filters, or cannot be stored on our side, the charge does not happen. The card in your Screening Room says so in plain words, and your balance is untouched. You never have to ask us for that money back, because it never left.

A delivered render is charged

If the provider delivers footage and we store it, the shot is billed at the price quoted on the button when you submitted it. Generation is probabilistic: a shot that renders cleanly but does not match what you pictured is a delivered render, and it is charged. This is why the platform offers takes, references, and presets — iteration is the craft, and every take is priced before you commit to it.

If we decline to release your master

We decline for one reason: the shot would put intellectual property, a real person’s likeness, or your clearance paperwork at risk. We do not decline on taste, on style, or on whether we would have made the same creative choice — those are yours to make.

A declined master is not credited back. The generation happened and the compute was bought. The check exists because the exposure is real — it protects your production from taking delivery of footage it cannot legally use, and it protects us from supplying it. The reason for every decline is logged and shown to you.

If you believe we got it wrong, appeal it. Every declined shot carries an appeal: tell us why the call was wrong and a second reviewer looks again. An appeal can release the master. It does not credit the charge.

Your production balance

Deposits fund a balance that does not expire while your production is open. Unused balance is refundable to the original payment method on written request, less any charges already incurred. Ask at support@greenlitdark.com and we will process it within ten business days.

The clearance package

The one-time clearance package covers verification and review work that begins the moment your production is opened. It is not refundable once that work has started. If we decline to open your production, it is refunded in full.

Billing mistakes

If you believe you were charged for something you did not receive, write to us before disputing it with your bank. Every render carries a ledger record showing what was generated, whether it was delivered, and what it cost — which means billing disputes here are usually answerable in minutes rather than arguable for weeks. We will correct any error we made, promptly and without argument.
